Mawlana Shah Abrar al-Haq Hardoi

From fahadmahdi.webs.com

Shaikh Maulana Abrarul Haqq Sahib (Late) was of Hardoi, India. The much revered and esteemed
Shaikh was the final lantern from the Ashrafiyyah chain (direct khulafa of Hakeemul Ummat Maulana
Ashraf Ali Thanvi) who laid particular emphasis on bringing the Sunnah alive in the life of the
ummah. For this, he was fondly known as Muhy al-Sunnah (the reviver of the Sunnah). He would
also lay particular emphasis on eradicating evil (nahy ‘anil munkar). He was of the view that by doing
good, evil will not be automatically eradicated. People need to be taught and schooled on what is
wrong and how to avoid it.
Maulana Abrarul Haq’s lineage is traced back to Shah Abdul Haq Muhaddith of Delhi, who was a
great teacher of Hadith on India. Both Maulana Abrarul Haq and his father, Maulana Mehmoodul
Haq, an advocate by profession, were the khulafa (spiritual deputies) of Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi.
The young Abrarul Haqq graduated from Madrassa Mazahirul Uloom in Saharanpur, where he left a
deep impact on both, his teachers and peers. Whilst studying, he was blessed to travel to Thana
Bhavan once a week to benefit from the company of his Sheikh, Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi who
granted him khilafat at a very young age due his extreme love and respect for his Sheikh. His Sheikh,
in return, also paid much attention to his spiritual condition.
Maulana Abrarul Haq was thereafter deputed to preach Islam and reform the Muslims of Hardoi (his
hometown) where he founded a Madrassa by the name of Ashraful Madaris on his personal
property which he made waqf for the purpose. Many South African ‘ulama also studied at this
institute which became known for its high level of tajweed (correct recitation of the Qur’an).
Maulana Abrarul Haqq also furthered the Islamic cause throughout the length and breadth of India
under the auspices of Da’watul Haq, an institution created under the supervision of Maulana Ashraf
Ali Thanvi to propagate Islam which today has in excess of 10, 000 students.
He was the author of, amongst many other valuable books, One Minute Madrasah, a booklet
containing valuable bite-sized bits of Islamic information which can be delivered in a span of a
minute. This book is used as adult education in many Masajid around the world today.
Thousands of the servants of Allah took the oath of allegiance at his hands in Hardoi. In addition, he
has left behind about 300 khulafa. Over 150, 000 people attended his funeral service and almost
immediately, newspaper articles and radio broadcasts carried the news of this remarkable person.
May Almighty Allah accept his great services and grant him Jannatul firdaus (Ameen).

Hazrat Maulana Shah Abrar-ul-Haq Sahib (RA) lived in Hardoi, U.P. India. His father was Maulana Mahmud-ul-Haq Haqqi Sahib (RA), who was a Khalifah Mujaaz-e-Suhbat of Hazrat Thanwi (RA). Their lineage went up to Shaikh Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlawi (RA). His initial education of Arabic, Urdu, and Farsi started at home. Afterwards he enrolled at Mazaahir-ul-Uloom in Saharanpur, and completed the Alim course. During the course of his studies, his piety was such that it had an effect on his classmates and drew the attention of his teachers. He was also very fortunate to be granted the opportunity to travel to Thana Bhawan from Saharanpur every week. Especially during the holidays, he would stay in the service of his Murshid. It is for this very reason that Hakeem-ul-Ummah (RA) paid special attention to him. He received Khilafat from Hazrat Thanwi (RA) at a very young age. It was upon the order of his spiritual mentor, Hazrat Thanwi (RA) that he went to Hardoi to kindle the fire of the knowledge of Deen from which the Muslim population is still benefiting from. He founded a Madrasah there by the name of Ashraf-ul-Madaris. Besides the local students, there were students from Mumbai, Gujarat, Hyderabad, and other various places.

Keeping his religious yearning in mind, Hazrat Maulana Shah Abrar-ul-Haq Sahib (RA) had revived the Majlis Da’wat-ul-Haq that was initially formed by Hazrat Thanwi (RA). It then took a new beginning in Hardoi, and now carries on the work of Islah and Tabligh. They often host conferences as well because of which the fire of Iman was rekindled in the Muslims of Hardoi.

Hazrat Maulana Shah Abrar-ul-Haq Sahib (RA) was also the head of Majlis Siyanat-ul-Muslimeen, which holds its annual conference at Jami’ah Ashrafiya, in Lahore, Pakistan.

Hazrat Maulana Shah Abrar-ul-Haq Sahib (RA) was the last of Hazrat Thanwi’s (RA) Khulafaa to pass away. He passed onto the mercy of Allah on May 17, 2005. We pray that Allah fill his grave with noor.
